Purchase: Purchased directly from Mattes in the UK. Cost was about $200.
Likes: Absolutely love it! I've gone through lots of different saddle pads in preparation for Competitive Trail, and natural wool is hands down the best. I wasn't sure whether I'd like the sheepskin but found that it was simply wonderful. Just hose it down after each ride and the dirt and grime just flow off of it. The sheepskin absorbs a lot of sweat and provides ample padding.
Dislikes: A bit expensive. Yes, it costs more, but it is well worth it. I should have washed it before using it because where the sheepskin starts on the underside rubbed my mare a little on her flanks. Once I washed it, no more rubbing.
Quality: The top is mostly cotton, and the underside is sheepskin. The quality is exceptional.
Summary: If you do endurance or CTR, natural fibers are the way to go. Yes, this pad costs more, but you'll be very, very pleased with it.
