Purchase: I bought this saddle for $350 new at a local tack shop. The tag under the flap says Cavalier, which is a Canadian saddlery, but the button near the pommel says Lancers, leading me to believe they are one in the same.
Likes: Since I had two young horses to start when I purchased this saddle, I was looking for something that I'd be ok with getting scratched and beat up, but was still going to last me a little while. This saddle has exceeded my expectations and has proven itself very durable. I've had it three years now with fairly regular use and it still looks barely ridden in. It seems to be a fair value for the price and has adequately fit most of the horses I've put it on.
Dislikes: You get what you pay for. It fits me alright,and it feels safe and secure, but its just not the most comfortable saddle in the world and the leather is stiff and plastic-y. I imagine it will take me many more years to wear out the leather!
Quality: Construction and design seems good, but the saddle is made with cheaper leather.
Summary: Awesome saddle for someone starting out, or someone like me who needs a second saddle that is going to get abused.
