Purchase: I bought this bit used on ebay for $13.00. It had only been used once and apparently didn't fit the horse it was tried on. I bought it because my horse has a sensitive mouth and I wanted a very gentle bit.
Likes: My horse seems to like the bit just fine. Putting the bit in has become much easier because of Happy Mouth's trademark apple scent, and probably because it is gentler than a metal snaffle.
My horse moves out better, and more smoothly. The bit is more pliant than metal, and I imagine more comfortable on the gums.
Dislikes: The plastic part of the bit chips more easily than metal, of course. If you have a bit chomper, I guess that could be a problem. Mine has held up pretty well so far with only one superficial mark on it.
These bits new, are also a little pricey (40-60$) for what they are made of, and for the fact that they wear out faster than metal bits).
Quality: This bit is well constructed, and has held up to daily wear and tear. It cleans well, and is not discolored when smeared with grass et.
Summary: I would reccommend this bit to anyone looking for a gentle bit for a horse with a sensitive mouth, or a horse who does not like to take the bit when bridling.
