Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Courbette
Model: Axxis
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I've been looking for a high quality close contact saddle on a budget and bought this saddle new from HorseOnCourse.com for $799. They matched another website's low price and offered free shipping to boot. I chose the Coffee colour and an extra-wide tree to fit two larger built Warmbloods.

Likes: When I first unpacked the saddle, I was thrilled with the look and quality - it's beautiful to look at and the leather quality is top notch. I've been riding in a Delgrange till I retired my old jumper and have since borrowed a friend's Biarritz and I fell in love with the Axxis on the first test ride. The seat is soft, semi-deep and secure and the pliable leather meant no break in time. The panels are full but soft and fit my big girls perfectly with no pinching on their broad shoulders. The knee and thigh blocks are just the right size and the padded knee roll is very comfy and doesn't get in the way like some of the "anatomical" shaped knees. I had a jump school up to 4', felt really tight and my mare used herself well - the horses both really liked this saddle. This is a wonderfully balanced saddle. One of my mares is built and moves in a way that makes me fight a chair seat in most saddles but it was easy to be perfectly centered in the Axxis and I was told (and felt) that I rode very well in it.

Dislikes: Nothing really! I recommend getting a longer girth as the billets are shorter than some saddles.

Quality: The leather is soft and supple, with beautiful tight stitching. The panels are designed to actually fit a horses back unlike many of the trendy "banana panel" saddles out there today that rock and bridge and come with a huge price tag!

Summary: Gorgeous well balanced saddle that looks and rides as well or better than the $4k saddles and actually fits the horses! Fantastic buy.
