Purchase: I wanted a pad similar to the Beval fleece half pad, but I didn't want to pay the price for it. I bought the similar one from Dover for $80.
Likes: It was very soft and wooly. I liked how thick it was, and the natural merino sheepskin color looked good on my horse when I rode.
Dislikes: Even though the pad was thick and seemed nice, it fit my horse terribly. I thought the pad would conform to my horse's back, but that was definitely not the case. It was so thick that it was too stiff! It made my saddle's tree too narrow and then caused his withers to be pinched, so I had to sell it and buy a new pad. Other than the saddle fitting problem, if it WOULD have fit my horse I still would not have liked it because of the thickness under my saddle. I felt like I was riding way on top of my horse instead of directly on his back, like I was sitting in a western saddle. Even after owning it for about a year, and riding with it at least 5 days a week, it never got any softer or any more supple. It was also impossible to CLEAN!
Quality: The quality is pretty good, but some of the felt on the top side is starting to pull off.
Summary: Overall, I really wish the pad would've gotten more supple and not so stiff. I realize it was my mistake to buy a pad that would make my saddle more narrow, but I still would not have liked the pad even if it did fit my horse.
