Ariat
Challenge Field Boot
English Show Apparel
Manufacturer: Ariat
Model: Challenge Field Boot
Category: English Show Apparel
Purchase: I needed new boots because mine were too big for my calf, so I bought the Ariat Challenge field boot at my local tack store on consignment for $200.
Likes: I really like these boots, and they are the best and most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The calf fits my thin calf great, and the height is nice. I like the swagger tab, too. They look good in the show ring and look like a more expensive boot.
Dislikes: Sadly, there are a few more things I dislike about these boots than things I DO like. The foot is too wide for my thin foot, and the boot is not a wide sized-foot, either. The calf fits me, but I have to only zip them up halfway and walk around a little before I can zip them up all the way, which can get kind of annoying because any bigger size is too big for my calf! I wish the ankle was smaller, too, because I feel like there is too much room down there and my ankle moves around too much. Also, even though the boot claims to have a spanish top, it is hardly that. And my biggest complaint would be that, at the store when I was trying them on, the helper lady told me that she thinks they should have been about half and inch taller for my leg. I bought them even though they look a tad short on my leg...but when I got home to ride in them I found that I definitely wouldn't have wanted them any taller because the back of the boot was rubbing against the back of my knee. If they would have been any taller, they would have probably been digging into the back of my knee even worse.
Quality: The quality is nice for these boots, but they are made in China now. I was really disappointed in Ariat when I saw that on the inside. Other than that, construction of the boot is good and they have not come apart in any places.
Summary: Overall, this is a really nice boot, don't get me wrong. I just don't think Ariat should have such high prices on their China-made boots, especially if they are not custom made or anything. I won't get new ones, because I really do like these boots and they look good on me, but I just wish there were some changes. I guess you just have to pay a lot of money for a better-fitting boot.
