Purchase: I rented this movie with my girlfriend when it first came out on video a couple years ago. I imagine you could probably purchase it for anywhere from $10.00 to $20.00 depending on where you shopped.

Likes: The actual animation in this video was well done, though I am inclined to think that Dreamworks could have done better. The story line was decent, and the 'moral' at the end was a stunning one, though rather awkwardly presented.

Dislikes: First of all, the soundtrack was terrible. I'm sure it would have been better if not at all associated with the movie, but the movie DID NOT go well with the soundtrack, it was disconcerting and disorienting... several times I thought for a moment that someone was blasting music in another part of the house. The dialogue was poorly concieved, and non-existant for the horses. They spoke in 'neighs', which, while interesting in some sense, made it hard to relate to them. Everything they communicated had to be simple so that a child audience could glean its meaning from 'horse language'. It would have been nice if they could have used 'horse language' but allowed it to be more complex by using subtitles or something.

Quality: The soundtrack and most of the voice actors were terrible, but the visuals were fairly good. It might be better to watch the movie with the sound off.

Summary: I understand this is a children's movie, and maybe I am being a little too harsh with it, but, Dreamworks can certainly do better than this. The movie felt like a void. There wasn't enough intimacy between the viewer and the equine characters, and the soundtrack distanced the viewer even further.
