Purchase: Purchased from ORTHOFLEX SADDLEWORKS INC.
Paid $2800 from their 'scratch and dent' site. Supposedly, this saddle originally cost over $4,000.00.
Purchased because I had heard that orthoflex could fit any horse and I thought with the amount of money spent, it had to be a good saddle!
Likes: It is an attractive saddle with it's black and brown contrasting leather.
It has the rumble seat which is comfortable and the fenders are also well padded. Makes for a comfortable trail ride.
Dislikes: The delrin panels. They are placed on the saddle unevenly. The first time I placed this saddle on my horse, he was very uncomfortable. When I tried to mount him, he shied away and in no uncertain terms, let me know that the saddle was a poor fit.
I tried all sorts of pads and he remained very uncomfortable.
I finally found Len Brown's site, The Corrector, and have been in direct contact with Len. WHAT A GREAT GUY!! Just look up Len Brown and Corrector and you will find his website. It is a lot of information to read but well worth it.
I sent him this saddle and he will remove the very poorly engineered panels and fix the saddle so that I can use it with his Corrector pad.
Quality: Fairly poor especially considering the money I spent for it.
The stirrups have a plastic holding rod instead of steel. The tree looks like it was designed by someone with no experience in the saddle.
I am so disappointed with this saddle. I am only holding out hope that Len can make it usable.
Summary: ANYONE WITH AN ORTHOFLEX SADDLE OR FLEX PANEL SADDLE OF ANY KIND MUST CHECK OUT LEN BROWN'S WEBSITE.
HE WILL EXPLAIN HOW THE MAJORITY OF THESE SADDLES ARE ENGINEERED VERY POORLY. HE IS SO HELPFUL AND USUALLY ANSWERS THE PHONE HIMSELF!
DO NOT PURCHASE AN ORTHOFLEX SADDLE, PLEASE!!
SAVE YOURSELF THE EXPENSE AND HEARTACHE. AND ESPECIALLY YOUR HORSES WELLBEING AND HAPPINESS!!
