Purchase: I bought my first pair of Boa boots because my Paso Fino gelding was flat footed and I wanted to try to go barefoot, but he needed support.
Likes: They are made of durable material and do protect the hoofs when used.
Dislikes: There is a lot to be desired in my opinion. Without the gaitors the Boa boots chafe badly, with the gaitors my boots no longer fit and I needed to buy a larger pair. Also, the button covers that came with the boots were always falling off during a ride and getting lost, thus damaging how the tension adjuster.
Another thing that was frustrating, is the boot wouldn't fit on my horse after a few weeks after the farrier gave me a trim. I bought some farrier nippers and a file, but I found I just didn't have the strength in my back and arms to keep my horses hoof trimmed down to size to fit the boots. They are expensive and I can not afford to buy two sets in different sizes.
My horse only really needed his front hoofs protected, but I found the Boas to just be heavy enough to throw the timing off on my gaited horses gait. In order to get him evenly balanced I bought a pair for his hind feet---again expensive!
Quality: Generally good, except for the design of the removable button on the tension adjuster.
Summary: I found them frustrating and too much work!! I do not recommend Boas.
