Purchase: Trialed this saddle for several weeks- asking price, barely used, was $1500- great deal! Needed a new dressage saddle that was comfortable and fit horses. Wanted a saddle comfortable enough for trail riding as well.

Likes: The leather was incredible! Beautiful, soft. The knee blocks were covered by a padded flap that allowed your knee/leg to nestle in softly. I hate knee block/pad situations where it is stiff and jams your leg into position. The gullet was nice and wide. The rise of the pommel was shallow enough that there was no rubbing or banging- very nice

Dislikes: The seat, although felt squishy, was really quite firm- not a lot of concussion absorption. While I never had sore sit bones the seat felt hard in the sense that you were 'bouncing' off the saddle and couldn't snuggle in for canter work. The seat rose from the center to the cantle in a manner that it tipped my pelvis forward and caused back stress. SO, while the saddle was very comfy from the center of the seat forward to the knee, the back half caused a lot of discomfort.

Quality: The construction was not an issue- this thing was built to last structurally. The leather was a double leather so may be easier to scratch but with reasonable care not a big deal as it was nice and tacky to ride in. The gullet was nice and wide for spine clearance. The panels were a bit 'pointy' under the cantle and may not be suitable for a super wide, flat backed horse.

Summary: If the seat were a bit flatter (I trialed this in an 17 and 18 inch- did not help) so as not to tip my pelvis forward, it would have worked for me. I think a good dressage saddle has a nice 'flat' spot in the center of the seat so the proper position can be comfortably found. This saddle had a medium twist that was very comfortable and the construction was amazing. This particular saddle was a great buy, just not for me.
