Purchase: I started to use this bit when my horse was having trouble with "normal" mouth bits. he had tons of (uncomfortable) chomping and chewing, so I thought I'd try happy mouth. Most happy mouth bits are about $40.
Likes: The plastic mouth is amazing! My horse does not like to have yucky tastes or big mouth pieces in his mouth, so rubber bits are a no-go. But the happy mouth bits aren't huge and seem to have no taste or smell(except for the little apple scent!) It fits lots of horse nicely, my horse is a little bigger than a 5", but a 5 1/2" sticks out to much. My happy mouth is a 5" with rubber bit guards, it fits him great! When I'm working with other horses, and use this bit, I fine it has a good fit for most 5" horses as well. I use it on the second ring most of the time, and it works well that way, then I don't have to have a two ring and a three ring, it does both.
Dislikes: Ummm, not much. The mouth has yellowed a lot, and I can't really get it clean, so I may have to replace it soon, only because of that.
Quality: Very good. It has held up well and doesn't show a sign of wearing out.
Summary: I'd recommend happy mouth to ANYONE having trouble with a "normal" bit. I didn't think my horse would like it, but he does and so do most other horses.
