Purchase: Custom Ordered from Albion in November of 2006, received March of 2007. Paid approx $3200 for the saddle and an addition $350 over the next 6 months for saddle fittings. Ordered the unit after trying multiple saddles because of the exceptional comfort this saddle provided.
Likes: It was a very comfortable saddle that instantly improved seat and leg position.
Dislikes: The saddle never fit the horse. In spite of multiple fittings. Within 5 weeks month's of purchasing the saddle it was twisting and twisting so severely that for the first and only time my horse bucked me off. I had the fitter back out and she re fit the saddle, however with in 3 weeks the saddle was twisting again.
Quality: The leather is beautiful and the saddle felt completely broken in on the first ride.
However the saddle twisted within one or 2 rides of fittings and it's inability to retain fit seemed to occur almost from day one.
I decided to sell this saddle within a year of it's purchase and found it retained less than half of it's original purchase price, I feel more than anything this speaks to the true value (quality) of a product.
Summary: After four fitting attempts and the bucking episode I found I had no confidence in the saddle or the company's fitter. When I purchased this saddle I was told I could expect to need to have it reflocked about 2x a year. I felt that was a drastic misrepresentation.
Anyone purchasing these saddles should be aware they require regular (monthly) fitting maintenance. The entire experience has left me with very harsh feelings toward Albion and their products. I would never recommend them to anyone.
