Purchase: I purchased this blanket last spring from Dover Saddlery on sale for $100. I purchased it for my very narrow shouldered Arabian mare. I ordered a size 68 with 100 gram fill.
Likes: I love nearly everything about this blanket. It has held up beautifully and has NOT caused any shoulder rubbing at all. My mare is very hard to fit and every other blanket I have tried has caused severe rubbing, especially if she wears them more than a day at a time. She has worn this blanket for the last month solid with no rub marks whatsoever. The fabric is well made and completely waterproof. She stood out in a downpour yesterday and was completely dry this morning, when my gelding had soaked through his Schneider's Aquanon sheet. The fabric is 600D and has not a single snag. My mare stays dry and snug, and has not been shivery or sweaty under it, despite our big temp swings in KY. My mare actually tried to bite me when I put on other blankets, but she stands quietly when I put this one on. The other blankets will be going up for sale.
Dislikes: The fleece withers area is a nice feature normally, but it does get sopping wet in the rain, as expected. The only other dislike is that the buckles for the front flaps are near the withers, so they get caked with mud when my mare rolls in the red KY clay. Other than that, it's perfect.
Quality: The blanket is 600D waterproof with no back seam and the front HUG closure. It has leg straps and two cross surcingles. The construction has been excellent and I've had no problems, other than the mud issues, which are unavoidable. The heavy elastic at the neck is very durable.
Summary: I would definitely buy another one! I've been very pleased and would highly recommend them to anyone. If you have a hard to fit horse or one with shoulder rubbing issues, try this blanket first! (and no, I don't work for them either, I'm just a very happy customer!)
