Purchase: I purchased this at Rick's Heritage Saddlery for $14.99 to try a different approach to my horse's fungus.
Likes: We've tried everything for my horse's fungus - MicroTek baths, Skin Renovator, Betadine scrubs, and nothing seems to work, until I tried Calm Coat. Just apply a light coat to the affected area twice a day and skin problems vanish over just a couple of days! It's all-natural, too, with a nice herbal scent.
Dislikes: The spray is oily, and most horses don't like you holding the spray bottle to their face, especially since the pump isn't always particularly effective. They do sell this product in a squeeze bottle at other tack shops, but at the time this wasn't an option for me.
Quality: A little goes a long way with Calm Coat and I think it justifies the $14.99 price - that bottle will last you awhile! I only used it for facial fungus, but the bottle claims it works on rain rot, too, and helps hair grow back faster. I can personally testify to this - my horse's bald patches were only barely visible within three days! Not only did the product halt the growth of the fungus but it sped up skin and hair recovery, too!
Summary: If your horse has persistent skin problems like mine does and nothing else is working, definitely give Calm Coat a try.
