Purchase: My husband got me this mecate off of ebay as a Christmas present. I believe he paid about $75 for it.
Likes: WOW. This mecate is so pretty and the quality is outstanding. I have had mecates before that were stiff and prickly, but this one is so soft and flexible. It is definitly made out of mane hair. You can get them from Jose ortiz in just about any color you want too. Mine is a chestnut, dark brown, white twist. It looks awesome on my chestnut tobiano.
Dislikes: Absolutly nothing.
Quality: It is holding up very well. It is now 4 months old and like any good mecate, it looks better with age.
Summary: If you want a pretty mecate, buy one by Jose Ortiz. They are sold on ebay on a regular basis and you can find them online from other sellers by doing a search. I don't believe Ortiz has a storefront per say, but I have seen his work at the nicer show tack stores at the bigger horse show trade shows.
