Purchase: Back a while ago, I was a working student on an eventing horse farm. My trainer had this saddle and I rode in his many times on many horses (most being the unpredictable youngsters) and felt very secure. Being that I had one of those youngsters myself, I invested in the same model. I found a used Vision on Ebay for $720, shipping $45. This was in 2004, before inflation of these swiss made saddles.
Likes: As I stated before, this saddle made me feel very secure and fit a wide variety of horses. I used the saddle for breaking young horses, and for the jumping phases of eventing. Unlike other Courbettes, the gullet channel is wide and not tapered toward the back. The two-toned leather is beautiful and of good quality. The Vision also features velcro attached, movable thigh blocks.
Dislikes: The first thing that becomes obvious about this saddle is sheer weight. This is a HEAVY saddle and not the best for very sensitive backed horses. Also, the forward flap can interfere in the movement of horse's shoulders.
Quality: The Vision is a better made model of Courbette and holds up extremely well though much abuse. Nicely balanced and somewhat customized to the rider via blocks.
Summary: A decent saddle for the price but may not be the best for a "touchy" type horse. Not to be overlooked, however, inflation has raised the cost of a new Vision and personally, I there are better saddles out there for the value of a new Courbette Vision. Overall, not a bad used saddle value as mine, as well as my trainers, has been through quite a bit and still look decent.
