Manufacturer: Specialized Saddle
Model: International Endurance
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I went to NC to a dealer, Double Diamond Equine and tried several saddles on my horse. He is a Mustang/Belgian. His back is as flat as a board and wide. When I purchased him he was 4 1/2 and already had white hairs on his shoulders indicating poor saddle fit.
I paid a total of $2300.00 for the saddle with a couple of customizations such as tooling, suede seat and color.
Likes: What to I like? Nothing....I LOVE THIS SADDLE. It is the only saddle I will ever have to buy...no matter what horse I own. It is completely adjustable without screwdrivers and struggling with the unit. It is beautiful, hand made and comes in dozens of customized styles from English to Endurance to Western.
My gelding is very happy and has never once sighed when this saddle is placed on his back..it is comfortable for both of us.
Dislikes: The price was more than I wanted to spend. But I had already purchased a Tucker Gen 2 Trail saddle and RETURNED IT. The tree was crooked. Yes I got my money back and it was just as pricey as this PERFECT SADDLE I now own for life!
Quality: PERFECT construction. The conchos I ordered are top quality, the leather isn't sealed so when I "feed it" with Leather Therapy it is absorbed not just sitting on top. The fenders are trimmed nicely and the leather is perfectly dyed (not patchy under the flaps) no shoddy workmanship at all.
Summary: Wherever I ride people STOP me to comment on my beautiful saddle. The looks are attractive but the best thing about it is the fit. If my gelding muscles up I can simply and quickly check his fit and adjust it...with Velcro shims. If he losses weight, the same thing, adjust by replacing the shims with a thinner one. The saddle came with an entire "kit" of shims. I have two horses and 5 saddles, sound familiar? The other 4 are being sold and I'm putting the money towards buying another Specialized Saddle so both horses can be comfortable.
Usefulness Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
