Purchase: I bought a pair of SMB II as well and they were $109 at the tack store and although some sand did get stuck in them, they gave superior protection.
Likes: I had a gelding that used to pull every possible muscle and tendon in his front legs and since he wears these boots, nothing has been wrong with him for 2 years. Though I have seen look-a-likes that do nothing at all but look pretty so be careful which ones you buy.
Dislikes: That sand got stuck in them but never left any marks on my horse's leg.
Quality: The logo wore off but the boots works great even after 2 years of almost daily use. Just now, one of the velcro straps is starting to come loose but like I said they were used daily for almost 2 years.
Summary: I was VERY happy with these boots and would recommend them anytime for any discipline from dressage to team penning. Make sure its the real thing and not the look-a-likes!
