Purchase: I purchased a 17" short flap Butet at my local tack shop in the Used section. My trainers and I sought after finding a Butet for the quality, but we also realized how incredibly rare they are to find- let alone, USED and in excellent condition! My last saddle (also bought used) was a Crosby Prix des Nations and gave my 15.2 hard-to-fit Thoroughbred some painful back sores. I payed $2,385, which for its beautiful condition, was a steal! New Butet's cost around $4,000 and just aren't the same craftsmanship as they used to be.
Likes: This saddle has not only gorgeous appearance, the quality of the leather is absolutely superb. The super soft calfskin seat and knee pads give your ride a comfortable touch, yet still practical. This particular saddle has no blocks what-so-ever (preferred, in my case) and puts your leg and upper body in the perfect position! The cushioning under the seat is soft, yet firm enough to fit my mare and give her lots of comfort during a ride. I am a hunter/equitation rider and this saddle was a truly amazing find!
Dislikes: The only thing that I wasn't thrilled about was the price. Although, you just CANNOT find this quality under $2,000! I will certainly have this saddle forever!

Quality: one word: FANTASTIC. The quality cannot be beat!
Summary: If you happen to find a Butet in the used section in good condition and are willing to pay the money, you had better jump on it! It will most likely be gone in a flash! Go for used, over new, because the new Butet's do not have the same hand-crafted quality of the older models.
