Purchase: I bought the saddle in the 'used' section of a tack shop. My main goal was to buy a monoflap, brown, dressage saddle. And there it was! For sure, in my head the Devoucoux's Makila was the best but since I couldn't afford...I was so pleased when I've found this one!!! I've paid 1200$ for that practically unused, fully equipped (leather stirrups, girth, cover and a pad!) 18'' monoflap saddle.
Likes: It is so comfy! Really well built. Monoflap indeed! Leather is butter soft. Padding is a bit big at the knees but not restrictive so, it it perfect! My position dramatically changed. I no longer have to struggle to sit properly on my a$*!!!
And it wasn't expensive at all!!! (The new saddle cost around 3000$ but still worth its price!) Not having found a used one, I would certainly have gone for a new one despite the price!
And it is a gorgeous rich havana brown colored!!!! Amazing!
Oh, and the girth is as well amazing, with a loop to be able to attach side reins or German reins or whatever... smooth leather, nice big elastic on both ends and nicely curved to fit well underneath!
Dislikes: Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!
Quality: As I said, it is unbelievably well built! The leather is from the highest quality. The padding are made of both wool and felt and the saddle really put you in a 'normal' good sitting position. It allows movement and you don't feel at all constrict between the cantle, the pommel and the knee pads... The seat is not that deep but you feel so close to the horse that a deeper seat wouldn't change a dime! It is monoflap so ... it is the best!
Summary: Really, give it a try! You won't be disappointed!
