Purchase: Trainer convinced me that I had to have this saddle... paid $4500 for a new one from Tad Coffin.
Likes: It is very durable. I also had great equitation in it- I would use this saddle for my eq flat classes and always feel more correct than in other models.
Dislikes: First off, the fit. The standard tree is wide and the fit is adjusted with leather pads. I have NEVER seen a horse that this saddle fits correctly. The cantle is way too low and there is absolutely no wither clearance. I also don't like riding with thick pads, as it hampers contact.
The saddle is very flat and low. It was hard to jump the larger jumps in, and I felt as if my position was off.
Quality: Decent saddle. Grain leather with nicer seat/padded flaps. It seemed to be very durable and held up well. I also love the longer billet length.
Summary: While this saddle was great to ride in at times, the fit is terrible. Unless you have a very round, flat horse, with no withers at all, you're going to cause damage to your horse's back. There are no options in the construction, and the company advocates just using more pads in order to make it work. This is definitely a saddle designed for a rider, with no consideration for the horse.
