Purchase: I needed a lighweight, breathable hay bag for my horses at shows. I wanted a hay bag that was not netted, so my horse's would not get their legs caught up in them. I bought this hay bag from Dover Saddlery, I paid $55.00 for it.
Likes: I love this hay bag, and I cannot keep track of how many people I have told about it. It opens on the top, and recloses, so the horse cannot sneak it's head through on the top:-) I love how it has top AND bottom straps to keep the bag from spinning and irritating my horses. I hate when I go to the show and my horses are getting irritated because they cannot get to the hay, so they start pawing at my new trailer!!lol. At the bottom of the hay bag, it is mesh so, the loose hay and dust sifts out of it, as your horse moves the hay around. The seams are bounded for added durability...and all the stitching is tough. I have owned this hay bad for 2 months and have used it approx. 25 times, it still looks brand new! I won't have to buy a new one for next show season! You can fit about 3 flakes of hay in it, and great thing is that you don't have to fight it, or shred the hay apart to get it in the hay bag, it slides right it, and hardly makes a mess! It comes in burgundy, navy, red, green, or black.
Dislikes: It is a little more on the expensive side, but if you think about it, you are saving money b/c you can use it multiple show seasons.
Quality: It is made of really tough nylon canvas. The stitching is tough and durable. The mesh at the bottom of the hay bag is thick and plyable.
Summary: Overall, this is the most bang for the buck! I have found myself saying over and over again, about how cheap the bag was for its quality! I would reccomend to any serious show person, or even riders who show occasionally, or want a tough bag for weekend trails or endurance rides to purchase this bag right away! It will save your life!
