Purchase: Purchased a few years ago on e-bay for $375. Needed a saddle that offered security and proper balance for a young rider but didn't want to skimp on quality. It is a 16 inch seat.
Likes: This is a wonderful all-purpose saddle with tendency towards jumping. Wonderful security. Puts the riders leg in the perfect position- as does the Siegfreid I own and ride in. Suede knee rolls for grip, pencil knee blocks. I rode in it just to see what it felt like- although too small I was very comfortable in it. The seat is deep enough for security but jumping can easily be done.
Dislikes: Really not much. If I had to gripe maybe the fact that the seat has some smaller, discolorations- look like stains though. Certainly no complaints.
Quality: Fabulous. Durable, yet soft leather. Extra 'point' billet for those round ponies. The seat has some padding which is nice. Everything is tight and built to last. The leather isn't so soft it scratches easily. This is a 32cm which fits both ponies and horses well. I can see this saddle being used 30 years from now easily.
Summary: If you are searching for an affordable childs or small adult saddle for show or for learning- this is a great buy. I liked it better than Pessoa or Crosby as this saddle has more focus on teaching proper position and security. This saddle has held a 7 year old in position on many, many trail rides which included naughty pony spooks, grass diving. The cheaper saddles will just not allow proper leg position, are slippery, and don't hold up -you can't go wrong investing in a Stubben.
