Purchase: I bought this blanket recently at the local tack shop. My pony needed something waterproof and a bit warmer than her then blanket. I got it for around $146 after tax. I have had it for only a couple weeks now.
Likes: I love the Front Leg Arches(TM). They provide freedom and fit to my round pony. The tail flap is nice and long for coverage of her gorgeous tail. Horseware's classic "Rambo" cut is included into this blanket at a more affordable price. I absolutely love how their 'regular' neck cut is! It does not require fleece, and it is generous yet it seems like it will not let rain or snow in like most typical blankets on the market. This blanket also does not have leg straps, rather a tail fillet. My pony's blankets have a habit of slipping, but this one so far has stayed in place better than those with leg straps. It is also waterproof, breathable, and of 1200 denier polyester. The surcingle front is nice, and more sturdy than buckles, but not adjustable. Lucky, the neck is cut great so it gives the perfect amount of room for my pony to put her head down. The blanket is in an attractive navy with white trim, and is heavyweight. The same style comes in different weights that have other color options, but this one comes in the navy. It isn't exactly my barn color, which is light blue (the medium weight comes in that), but it is still blue, and I'm actually quite happy about that. Darker colors hold in more heat, which is needed in my climate a lot, and does not show the dirt and stains as much. The company also provided T-locks on the belly surcingles, which was nice of them. I had some rubber ones in case it didn't have them, but now those can just be back-up. It also comes with the AquaTrans(R) coating technology found in their turnouts to make it truely waterproof and breathable.
Dislikes: The only problems experienced are:
1) The tail fillet was much to small. The dees on the blanket aren't higher up to go directly underneath the tail, so I took an old leg strap and tied knots in it, and that serves as her tail fillet.
2) The surcingles are short. They work well enough for Candy, but I can't even fit my hand in thumb-up. This was designed for ponies, but pony owners, I must ask you, how many of your ponies are rather full, stocky, or round? My pony gets called fat sometimes, but honestly that is just her build. I know some people have the thinner or more refined Welsh or Arab built ponies, but the surcingles DO go shorter people. If Horseware lengthens them 4 inches I'm sure they won't drag the ground on your pony.
Quality: This blanket is a waterproof/breathable turnout in 1200D polyester designed for ponies. It has a silky-smooth nylon lining. Front Leg Arches(TM) and correctly-made hipdarts are included. Horseware's blankets are designed not to slip without leg straps. It has a surcingle close front with hook-and-loop inside. Tail flap and classic "Rambo" cut. (A more expensive, but awesome line from Horseware Ireland.) These blankets are made in Ireland (Not China, amazing!! :D)
Summary: This blanket is overall pretty awesome! It is cute on my girl and hopefully it holds up! Knock on wood:) I suggest this to someone who wants a great blanket, especially from this company, but does not want to spend a fortune. Two other horses at the barn I board at have Horseware Ireland blankets (one has an Amigo Lite, too) and they are great!! Brought to us originally in 1985, Horseware is often updating their products and lines (Rambo, Rhino, and Amigo) to bring your horse comfort and protection. I don't work there, I just love these blankets, so far!!
