Synthetic Halter Fleeces
Manufacturer: Dover Saddlery
Model: Synthetic Halter Fleeces
Category: English Miscellaneous
Purchase: I ordered these through Dover's catalog last show season to go over my leather halter to create a shipping halter look for less. They were $7.50
Likes: Not much. They were inexpensive but you get what you pay for.
Dislikes: Pretty much everything! I bought the "natural" colored fleeces in pony size, and they were TINY! My leather halter is pony size, and I am not joking you: these fleeces did not even cover half of the crown or cheek. I put them on this Shetland pony's halter, too, and they were TOO SMALL!! I could only use the nose piece, which got dirty very fast. I didn't even leave it on my pony overnight at shows, just when I was handling her and around her. The synthetic material is not even soft, so I'm not using it again. Bedding chips get embedded into the fabric, and the part touching my pony's nose was smashed flat in one use, even though her halter was generous in the nose! The fleeces are actually quite ugly, and I am about ready to throw them out altogether. Gladly they were cheap. No wonder why.
Quality: Cheap, poorly-made synthetic fleece. Gets dirty fast, pulls apart, and gets squashed almost instantly. Not even worth a couple bucks. If you own a dwarfed Miniature these might fit his or her halter. They aren't soft at all, either.
Summary: Ugh. Not worth the money. The 4-piece set is just terrible. I'd suggest what I'll probably do: buy $37 real sheepskin or fleece 9-piece fuzzies, or the $90-200 shipping halter. Your horse and you will be much more satisfied.
