Purchase: I bought this item for $60 from RU horse. I wanted a breastcollar to show in, and this one matched my headstall. I bought it in light oil leather and blue crystals.
Likes: This breastcollar is so stylish! I LOVE the unique crystal color, and it matches my saddle and saddle pad perfectly!
I had so many complements on this breastcollar at a local horse show! The judges and my pony pals really liked it!
This breastcollar has lasted for a year so far and it is very well made.
Dislikes: I am furious with the fact that this breastcollar only fits my 14.3hh Paint mare and my 14hh Arabian. It DOES NOT fit my 15.1hh muscular Quarter Horse gelding, even though it is full horse sized. I bought this breastcollar mainly so I could show him, but it was not even close to fitting him, so I decided to use it on my other horses. And he is very average in size, so I am assuming this breastcollar will not fit a horse his size or larger.
Also, this breastcollar stains horribly. After one ride in it, the whole back side turned dark brown from my mare's sweat, and it stayed that way.
Quality: The leather of this breastcollar is certainly not top quality, and it is stiff at first. It is not horrible quality... it's just not what I expected.
Also, the crystals are not real, and are somewhat cheap looking, but they are a really unique and beautiful color.
The breastcollar is constructed very well, though. The stitching looks great after lots of hard use. The buckles are securely attached and I do not expect them to break any time soon.
Summary: This breastcollar will only fit smaller horses, or horses with less muscle. If you are buying it for a horse higher than 15.1hh with muscle, save your money for something a little larger.
But, if you want to use it on a smaller horse (13.3hh - 14.3hh), it should fit very well. It is a gorgeous item, but if you want top quality, I would suggest something else.
