Purchase: I needed a schooling helmet with good looks and reliability, so I found this helmet and purchased it at Dover Saddlery for $100. This saddle seemed to fit both my Western and English riding style, so I thought it would be a good choice.
Likes: The overall appearance of the helmet is wonderful. It is very elegant and beautiful with the leather straps and shiny color. I used to love GPS II system that allowed me to custom-fit my helmet.
Dislikes: This helmet scratches VERY easily. I simply kept it in my closet with a cover on, and it was extremely marked up when I took the cover off. The marks do not come off and look horrible, so I have just decided to keep the cover on. I am disappointed that I paid so much money for a helmet that would scratch so easily.
The flexible visor on this helmet is not great, either. Somehow, the visor became bent and it stayed that way! It looks very funny and it appears that I fell head-first into something!
The GPS II system that allowed me to customize my helmet was great at first. But soon, it just stopped working. I can't adjust the helmet as far as it used to go. The plastic straps that attach the system to the helmet always come of, pinching my head when I ride.
Quality: This helmet is well built, except for the GPS II system. The system is just a plastic piece of crap that ruins the helmet.
Summary: Save your money for another helmet, such as a newer Troxel model. This helmet may look great, but over time, it will become scratched, and the GPS II system will stop working.
