Purchase: I purchased this saddle through Craigslist for $375 with fittings. They retail new for $575 plus tax/shipping. I needed an affordable saddle to fit my flat backed, broad Arabian (not easy to fit).
Likes: This saddle is comfortable! I can adjust the gullet to my horse's size (which fits) and the channel between the panels is very wide to allow broad spine clearance (this is usually hard to find in other Wintec saddles). The saddle is quite attractive for synthetic made. The CAIR Panel system gives me peace of mind and my horse loves it as well. Last, but not least, I love the fact that I got it at such a low price with fittings! :D
Dislikes: Well, the person who was selling it advertised it as an 18 inch, but when I got it and tried it out, I looked and the sticker on the stirrup bar said 17.5 inch. It's alright though, because an 18 would've been too big for me since I've lost a lot of weight. The 17.5 fits just right. Things happen for a reason LOL. The saddle does squeak a little bit during rising trot, it isn't that pleasant, but I'll put up with it for my horse's sake/fit.
Quality: This saddle is synthetic made. Has equisuede knee flaps. Adjustable knee blocks under the saddle flaps and is supportive, yet unrestricting. The stirrup bars are stainless steel, which is nice. It has the CAIR Panel system which gives the horse humongous comfort. The saddle panels are filled with air, instead of traditional wool flocking. The saddle comes with 3 standard wide gullets: Extra Wide, Extra X2 Wide, and Extra X3 wide! Never thought I'd see such a thing anytime soon LOL. The saddles come in black or brown. The Wintec wide currently comes in All purpose only. The seat is designed to be comfortable for the rider and doesn't have a wide twist, which makes it comfortable. You have to be careful while changing the gullets because behind the metal frame is one staple that holds the bar in place and it is quite flimsy, which surprises me. If that staple breaks off, the saddle is pretty much useless.
Summary: I highly recommend this saddle to anyone who has an Arabian or hard to fit horse in general with a WIDE WIDE back. If you have gone through many saddles like I have to find the right fit for such a horse, look no further, your search has ended.
