Purchase: I purchased this girth from a local tack shop and paid $44.95. I needed a dressage girth to use with my new trail saddle with long billets. I was having trouble finding the right size for my round Arab who takes a 46-48" with a short billet saddle. I exchanged a 24" Professional's choice which was on the last hole for this 20" Wintec. Oh, how I wish I had taken up the sales person's offer to order the Professional Choice in 20" instead.
Likes: This girth galled my horse. The only good feature I can see is that it is easy to clean.
Dislikes: This girth galled my horse. I can't think of anything worse in a girth than this fact. Oh, now wait a minute. There is one thing that's worse, a girth that has "anti-galling material" in bold, black, block letters on the packaging and then galls your horse. I feel horrible about selecting this girth which caused my horse pain and has now left him unable to be ridden for what I imagine will be several weeks.
Quality: The exterior synthetic material appears durable and soft, but I have serious doubts about the claim that this girth is"fully elastic." Per the tag, " The unique advantage of this design is that the entire body stretches and the weight is transferred to the horse evenly over the whole surface of the girth with no pressure points or ridges." I just don't buy this and believe the elastic construction is faulty. Clearly, a pressure point was created as my horse developed a fairly nasty gall after being ridden in this girth for 45 minutes.
Summary: I deeply regret this purchase and will be returning it and purchasing a Professional's Choice or other brand that has elastic on each end of the buckles. I will not trust a girth with hidden elastic again. I am appalled that Wintec has the gall to call this girth anti-galling!
