Purchase: I purchased my Tipperary Vest from Dover Saddlery because vest protectors are a mandatory piece of equipment during competition at horse trials. I paid $250 for my vest.
Likes: During the cross country phase, my horse slipped coming down hill towards the water jump, and fell onto his knees. I fell over his left shoulder and landed in the dirt in front of him on the hill. Even though one of my horse's shod hind feet (with studs) landed right in the middle of my chest, I barely event felt it. I climbed back into the saddle and finished the cross country phase, and ultimately placed 3rd overall. I always wear my protector vest at horse trials, as well as hacking around and trail riding.
Dislikes: I wasn't a fan of safety vests since I originally felt that they were stiff & cumbersome. I also felt that the price of the vest was expensive, however, I felt that it was worth it.
Quality: I am impressed with the quality of the materials. It has held up for a total of 5 years now. There isn't even a smudge from where my horse stepped on me, even after all these years.
Summary: Bottom line is that the vest is well worth the money, especially when it saves your life.
