Purchase: I purchased this saddle on ebay for 130.00 because I needed a good all purpose saddle for jumping and dressage work.
Likes: It is the finest saddle I have ever ridden in. It is an older model, at least 20 years old. Unlike newer saddles, there is a minimum of padding, so it's easier to feel the horse's movement. Before buying the Stubben, I rode in a County Competitor dressage saddle, and though it's cushy and comfortable, I had a hard time improving my seat. After switching to the Stubben, I've fallen in love with riding all over again.
Dislikes: Absolutely nothing! Even after being shipped from Canada, the only thing it needed was a good cleaning and oiling.
Quality: The quality is excellent. It's an older model, but still going strong. I hope I last as long as it does.
Summary: Sometimes newer is not better. If you can't find what you're looking for in the catalogs, try a classic like the older Siegfried, Tristan, etc... You might not just get a good deal - you just might get the ride of your life.
