Purchase: I purchased this feedbag at Tractor Supply for $18 on sale. They retail normally for $22. I needed a feedbag for my gobble-gobble Oldenburg who never took a break while eating. He was always throwing his hay out of the regular feeders he had and was tearing them up real bad.
Likes: This feedbag is NICE. It keeps the hay in the bag and doesn't allow the horse to pull it out and defeat the purpose. It has a mesh screen on the bottom to let dust/debri fall out so your horse doesn't eat/inhale it. It has slots in the front that allow the horse to "graze" and take their time while eating which is better for digestion. I also love how there's a flap on top that has tuff velcro on the back of the feeder which makes it impossible for the horse to open it.
Dislikes: I don't like taking the feedbag off the pipe corral (unhooking the straps) every time when I have to fill it up but other than that, nothing!
Quality: This bag is made of tough cordura. It has a mesh screen on the bottom of the bag to sift dust/dirt/debris. It has 8 small squares on the front that are "checkered" which keeps the horse from gobbling his food too fast and causes them to take breaks and "graze". It also has two bars inside the closure flap and has strong velcro to make those bars join and then an extra flap that goes over the bars that stays put and the horse can't figure out how to open it. It has strong adjustable cordura straps on each side that you can hang just about anywhere. I hang it on a pipe panel and it works great. The swivel clips attach to alternate tough rings to keep the feedbag level and so they can't fling the bag over the fence. These feedbags come in different funky colors, so if you want to add some flair to your barn, this is the bag that'll do it. I got brown because that's all they had at the store at the time.
Summary: I'm going to get another one for my Arabian. I've noticed that my Oldenburg, who is "Mr. Chow Hound" takes longer to eat his food and has a better sense of well-being when I take him out to ride. It also causes your horse to be patient while you are filling up the bag and they just watch calmly when you do that. This is the best feedbag we've seen!
