Ice Horse
Continuous Flow Cold Water System
Horse Health and Well Being

Manufacturer: Ice Horse
Model: Continuous Flow Cold Water System
Category: Horse Health and Well Being

Purchase: The manager of the barn was asking for me to find a boot system that had cold water flow to the entire leg. We needed a heavy duty one that everyone could use, for a small fee. I found this cold water system after searching far and wide for a quality system. I bought this system through SmartPakEquine.com for approx. $550.00.

Likes: Well, at the barn I work at, we have continuous strains and muscle problems, we have race horses at the barn, polo horses, dressage horses, and hunter/jumpers. This system shortened recovery time by a ton, even faster than the vet expected. They all made full recoveries(mild pulls, post surgery, etc.) The cold therapy helped keep tendons, connective tissue, muscles, and ligaments healthy. The vet told us that unlike warm water, the cold water did not exactly help swelling but it soothes the joints, muscles, etc. This system is great and it is not as big and bulky as the whirlpool boots. Included in this system is the "y" splitter, one rectangle and one multi-purpose pad, two insulating compression bandages, and the entire power unit...I suggest you look at pictures on the webpage, so you can get a better visual of these "contraptions"...lol!

Dislikes: Well, origianlly I was going to put that I disliked the price...but then I had to think about how many horses we healed with this system, and it has probably already paid for itself and MUCH much more. Also the hose is a little short, so the power unit can not be far away from the horse. We have had a few horses step on it so far, but it still works just fine.

Quality: Everything in the system kit is "horse-friendly" it is all durable, and easy to manuver and carry around, the power unit is small like a mini soda cooler. The hoses and bandages has lasted a long time even after being used at least 100 times.

Summary: Great to have at a breeders or trainers, barn. With expensive horses around you could not afford to have one of these tucked away in case someone get hurt. I have even wrapped the bandages around my legs and did it to myself when I was recovering from a hairline fracture, the doctor told me I healed much faster than expected, and he had no explination until I told him my little secret..lol!
