Purchase: Bought it on Ebay for $545.00 an absolute bargain for a used Crates. Don't let the price of a Crates scare you away. They are great saddles!
Likes: I use this saddle to start horses and day to day training. The seat is well balanced and super kind on the bottom. I find that with Crates I do not suffer any joint discomfort and I believe its due to how the stirrups are hung not the common idea that its all about the leather, besides the leather is top notch.
I've ridden in Billy Royal, Silver Mesa,
Circle Y, Tex Tan, Bona Allen, Broken Horn, Dale Chavez none of them compare to the comfort of a Crates for me or my horses.
Dislikes: There is not one thing I do not like.
Quality: Crates is known for the top leather they use. It is everything they say it is and more. It wears like iron and ages beautifully. I love, love, love this saddle. You could not tear it from my dead hands.
Just a little note....the reining saddles fit those hard to fit wide glides with short backs
Summary: I got turned onto Crates by a friend who swears by them. To be honest, I thought for the price how good could they be. I bought saddle after saddle with no luck. Then I finally took her advice, and God was she right! My next saddle will be a Crates, that should tell it all.
Buy a Crates....you'll be glad you did!
