Purchase: I bought this Saddle from Dover Saddlery and paid $575. I was needing a very WIDE saddle for a draft cross that I could at least jump in. I have a semi custom French dressage saddle that fits him well, but I wanted something that I could trail ride in and do low level schooling events.
Likes: I have never been a big fan of non leather saddles, but I must say , I am impressed with this Wintec. Wintec has come a long long way. It comes in brown, thank you ! This model, though an all purpose, has long billets which is very important for those of us with WIDE horses. Its nearly impossible to find a girth long enough to fit these big guys and most saddles need to be altered by changing out the billets. Wintec realized this and the billet system is actually V-shaped plus one extra to really hold the saddle in place. The material is nice and grippy. Its very comfortable and I felt balanced and secure immediately. I liked the wide flatter panels under the cantle area, not those narrow rounded things found on even the most expensive saddles. Nice wide channel and flatter seat to truly accomadate the super wide flat backed equine. It comes with a 44cm gullet and two slightly smaller ones, at around 40 and 42 cm. These are all MUCH WIDER then the standard wide that comes with the other Wintec saddles. Just TRY to find a 44cm tree anywhere in the world, its almost impossible, I have tried. ! So I want to truly thank Wintec for this wonderful product. My horse is extremely happy and so am I.
Dislikes: Actually nothing, the billets could be a tad longer. Thats about it. But my horse is a tad fat, not their fault (grin) Now I would like to see the Close contact and Pro jumping saddle come THIS WIDE. Then I would truly be happy!! You can't put these super wide gullets in the regular Wintec's, though you can put the White and Red gullets into THIS saddle. So plus and minus depending on how you look at it.
Quality: I love the brown color, the grippy material and it breaks in quickly or rather no break in time needed. Its a nice soft ride, though I felt a tad 'bouncy' but I guessed that was because my dressage saddle is extremely old and hard as a rock, so a nice little air ride is a god sent.
Summary: Excellent product, excellent price, and it will fit even the widest, flat backed equine.
