Purchase: Dover Saddlery 4 years ago, can't remember price exactly- around $200?
Likes: It looks pretty...from a distance. Ok that was harsh it's not that bad. I bought it to match my Showmark bridle, which it did well. After four years it is still in good shape.
Dislikes: I had to punch several holes in the strap that attaches to the girth. The elastic inserts become gross with all the sweat and it is difficult to clean them. The leather where the elastic attaches is stiff. The metal pieces are cheap and became multi-colored after use, not shiny silver anymore. After lengthy polishing it improved...slightly. I also don't like how thin the straps are, i think a thicker strap looks better and distributes the pressure better.
Quality: Again, decent. The leather takes in oil well but it shows marks where the buckles have been. However, it has held up and is not cracked or broken after 4 years. Some of the elastic has frayed where it attaches to the leather but it is not a safety issue.
Summary: Good pony club or eventing breastplate. Sizing is a little on the big side. I would probably buy it again, I haven't seen anything that is a whole lot better. But the price is a little steep.
