Purchase: I acquired this pad directly from www.limpetsaddlepad.com, paid $175. I purchased it as a protective/therapeutic pad for young horses that I train.
Likes: It is lightweight and fairly nonslip,but ONLY after a long warmup. Back doesn't get too hot under this pad, and it is flexible.
Dislikes: I am VERY disappointed! I spent nearly $200 on a pad that doesn't work well for any of the 3 horses I've used it on!
They take MUCH shorter steps than in my Thinline pad.
It does not absorb shock for the horse or rider (has a "dead" feel to it)
It does not work on my still-developing, cold-backed off track TB. He NEVER seems to warm up in this pad!
It is ugly, and when you use it under another blanket it takes even longer to warmup and hence develop its nonslip qualities.
It took 2 weeks to arrive.
It now sits at the bottom of my tack trunk collecting dust and making me angry.
I tried it on my TB's, with my hunt saddle, same awful results. Does nothing for my horses, I hate this thing.
Quality: A rectangular piece of thick open-celled foam. If you want one, go to a foam manufacturer and just buy a chunk. No seams, no construction per se, just a hunk of material.
Summary: A massive waste of money, does not deliver on promises, I am back to my Thinline pad which I think is AMAZING! I would do promos for Thinline for free!
The Limpet is a good place to put $200 you never want to see again.
