Purchase: I bought the SoloComb because I have a horse who hates his mane being pulled. I paid around $30 from Smartpak.
Likes: If you use it correctly, it really does do a comparable job to pulling. My horse is so much calmer with this, and that makes life much easier. The blades dull very quickly, so because I'm not trying to thin the mane, I cut with scissors first (1-2 inches longer than I want) and then use the solocomb. Seems to work just as well, and I don't go through so many blades. It's super easy to replace blades/clean blades.
Dislikes: Nothing. If you watch the video on the website and follow instructions, it works well.
Quality: Mine is holding up well. Easy to clean and maintain. Been dropped/thrown around and hasn't cracked or anything.
Summary: Follow instructions and you're set! Blades are expensive and dull quickly though. I got 3-4 uses out of one blade before I started cutting the hair first.
