Manufacturer: Antares
Model: Close Contact Saddle
Category: Close Contact Saddles
Purchase: I'll start by saying, I do not own an Antares Saddle, but I wish I did! Although, I have ridden in them enough to write an accurate review for them.
Likes: Antares Saddles give you more of a feel and connection to your horse. When I ride in them I feel like I'm more in sync with the horse, than I would be in other saddles, like the Pessoa I sometimes ride in. Don't get me wrong, Pessoa's are nice saddles too, but once you ride in an Antares you don't want to go back. My leg feels so much tighter and closer to the horse. With other saddles I've ridden in, it feels like I need to try harder to keep my leg still and at the girth, but when I ride in an Antares, my leg feels right where it should be. They're also the most comfortable saddles I've ridden in. Oh, and one more plus, they fit virtually any horse type. Not to say that one certain Antares saddle will fit every horse in the world, but I know people who ride at least 8 horses a day, all different sizes, and the same saddle fits them perfectly. Even if one of the saddles is custom made to fit a certain horse, I've noticed that it will still fit other horses fine. I guess that's another plus, you can get them custom made to you and your horse. They're wonderful!
Dislikes: I love everything about the saddle, physically. But, price may be an issue for some people, like me. They can be $3,000 and up depending on what it's made out of, size, and if you get a custom one. The price has stopped me from owning one of my own, as I can't afford it. But, there are plenty of used Antares saddles in great condition at lower prices. Usually people have taken great care of them and are only selling them because they got a new one, or they've grown out of them. I'm definitely saving for a used one though!
Quality: The quality is amazing! They are all made out of fine french leather, constructed very nicely! Like I said, I know people who ride 8+ horses a day in these saddles and they still look in excellent condition after 4 years and still counting. These saddles are definitely worth the money, as they will last you a very long time, saving you from having to buy new saddles.
Summary: Antares saddles are the best! I feel, and so do many others I know, that they help your position, help contact with your horse, and fit a variety of horses. They are made out of quality leather, excellently made, and will last you for years to come, even after excessive use. These saddles are perfect for anyone who ride avidly. Comfy too!
