Purchase: I purchased this blanket through Dover Saddlery for $150. I needed a heavy blanket to fit my draft cross gelding and was unable to shell out $300 for a Rambo XL.
Likes: The fit is very nice. There is enough room in the shoulders and has plenty of drop to fully cover the horse's sides and belly. I have tried other brands (regular fit) that either did not fit around my horse's neck or only extended halfway down his sides.
The fabric is strong and has withstood rough blanket tag from my horse's turnout buddy
The front closure is two t-locks instead of the standard buckle closure which makes it easier to change blankets.
Dislikes: Color options are limited and not well depicted on the website. The blue (which looks like a royal color) is more of a periwinkle color.
Fill is not heavy enough for coldest days of winter.
Quality: This blanket is well built to withstand extra rough play from extra-large horses.
Summary: If you are considering the Rambo XL, give this blanket a try first! It has many of the same features and excellent fit for half the price!
