Purchase: I purchased this pad at a local farm store that carries some equine tack and paid about $120.00 for it.
Likes: I like the rough and tough cloth covering. Dense enough to not catch burrs and twigs like raw wool, and easier to clean. I also like the contoured design around the wither area and was one of the primary reasons I selected this pad.
Dislikes: There is stitching runs the horizontal length of the pad that holds all the layers together. When removing the pad I found that my mares hide was raised and swollen to match the pattern of this stitching. Somehow that just doesn't seem like it must feel very good to her. I have never experienced this with any other pad on her, nor have I experienced it since.
Quality: This is a very well constructed pad, appears to be easy to clean and would probably outlive me.
Summary: When contacting Professional Choice about the problem, they willingly replaced the pad with an SMX Air Ride pad that has Merlino wool on the bottom and no similar stitching. I really appreciated that customer service and willingness to back their product. The only problem is, the replacement pad has no contour to the wither area in its design and my horse has withers. So I still don't like it, but I like it better than the Twenty X.
