Purchase: I bought them after giving up my synthetic devon-aire boots and was looking for an upgrade. Purchases through Country Max with help from an equine associate for proper fitting and size for $280 approximately.
Likes: I was very impressed with the zipper and leather quality. Both have held up in the past year I've owned them and countless shows I have competed in. Breaking them in wasn't too bad, it took about 4 or 5 solid rides and countless days just walking around in them but I never got ridiculous blisters or sores from them.
Dislikes: After having them for about a year they have stretched significantly and no loner fit properly. I bought them a little tall and a little tight expecting stretch but what happened was outrageous! I can no longer wear them and gave them free to a "heavier" friend of mine. It got so bad that there was 1 1/2" to 2" of slack leather gathered around my ankle. The wrinkles in the boot went half way up my leg and looked so bad I refused to wear them even as schooling boots. I did everything I could to prevent such deterioration, I have cedar boot trees and oiled and cleaned them regularly to keep the leather soft. I was very disappointed in these boots and expected better from Ariat.
Quality: The construction was phenomenal, sewing and leather quality was perfect. Nearly indestructible, they went through mud, shine, and cold.
Summary: One of my friends bought the same boot at a similar time as me and the same thing happened to her. I know alot of people really enjoy these boots, but mine didn't stand up to the Ariat quality I expected. They started out fine but once they broke in and dropped it was like I was riding in a different boot.
