Purchase: I purchased the Barcoo Northern from www.terisstore.com. It was an upgrade, as I had purchased a kimberly stock from them 5 yrs earlier. I was so pleased with my first aussie saddle, that I decided to get a Syd Hill. They offer custom fitting, and recommended several saddles. I paid $2099.00 and received free shipping. The regular price of the saddle else where ranged from $2,299.00 and up.
Likes: I chose the Barcoo Northern because of the deep wide seat and 41/2" knee pads,which help me to stay in my seat as I ride up & down into steep, high mountain ranges. I always feel safe and secure while riding. I also enjoy the beautiful embossing on the panels. The saddle is sheepskin lined, and distributes my weight evenly over my horses back. Its a comfortable fit for both me and my horse. This saddle is also light at only 22lbs.
Dislikes: I don't have any negative thoughts, or experiences toward this saddle.
Quality: I did extensive research on australin saddles, and Syd Hill is known for their high quality leather, and craftsmanship.
I love the feel of the leather, and the brass hardware is strong. The tree is made of structural polyurethane with fibreglass reinforcement. Which is stronger than the plain fiberglass, or wooden tree.
Summary: I used to ride using western saddles, but since using the Australian, I would never go back. I can ride long hours without getting sore knees, back, and ankles. The price of the Syd Hill is well worth the high quality craftsmanship.
The tree is also guaranteed for 10yrs. I also enjoyed the personal service including the price discount, and free shipping that I received from www.terisstore.com.
