Purchase: I just became a new horse owner, again, after 24 years last fall. I bought a Tennessee Walking Horse. At first, I bought a Wintec 500 AP, and this was too much of a forward seated saddle for a gaited horse, so I researched and invested in a Stubben Gaited Pleasure Saddle. I bought the Stubben Gaited Saddle on line from a dealer in Minnesota. Paid $1,695.
Likes: Stubben saddles are well known for their high quality, their craftsmanship, and their durability. I really like this saddle because it fits both my horse and me perfectly. It is made specifically for the gaited horse, so it places the rider in a balanced position right from the start! I feel secure and relaxed when I ride in the ring and on trails. I know, with proper care and use, I will have this saddle for years to come.
Dislikes: I was a little dumb-founded by the billet system at first. The saddle has really long dressage-like billets...but, you cut them off at the middle of them with a box cutter and just use the top holes when girthing. A long girth works better with this saddle.
Quality: A lot of attention was paid to details on this make of saddle. It is constructed of sturdy yet soft and forgiving leather.
Summary: I would recommend this saddle to the gaited horse owner. It really puts the rider where she should be. It is worth the price if the rider will keep the saddle for years and years.
