Purchase: First off I was looking for a new saddle. I was wanting one under $1,000. Also one with knee rolls, a comfy seat, quality leather etc. I was talking with a friend one day and she told me she bought her Pessoa saddle online (AT EBAY!!). So, I went on ebay and found this very very nice saddle I had read about from Dover Saddlery. And of course I bought it!! This saddle's list price was around $1,100 but I bought it for $550 (with a girth and irons)!! I was thrilled!
Likes: My trainer's first words were... "YOU BOUGHT THAT FOR 500 BUCKS!!!??" That explains a lot! I just loved how this saddle looks! It has a sweet oakbark color to the flaps and has a lighter leather for the knee rolls and seat. Gorgeous combination! It stays very clean, unlike most saddles. I also keep it in a nice saddle bag. Takes oil well also. It wasn't hard to find saddle fittings. I used the HDR collection to match the saddle and circuit as well. It is so comfortable to ride in! To me, it feels better than a pessoa, crosby, county, or bates. I really recomend this!
Dislikes: Well...it was made in Argentina. Today many of us like the European leather. I prefer the slick seats with grippier flaps. I am a careful person...and have gotten a few nicks on the pommel. It can get scratched easily because of how wonderfully soft the leather is.
Quality: This is exactly what I was looking for! I was told this tree fits only narrow horses...not so much the case. My horse really likes how it feels on him. He seems to move better. Extremely comfortable ride!
Summary: This saddle is a perfect all-around saddle! It can be perfect for HUS, EQ., Jumping, eventing (YOU NAME IT!!) It has a medium seat, which I love! Does great in damp conditions=) Not a whole lot of cleaning involved either. I hope this helps you!!=)No major flaws!
