Category: All Purpose Saddles
Purchase: I chose this saddle as a gift from my husband for my 40th birthday. I ordered it from valleyvet.com and paid $734.00 for it.
Likes: Absolutely nothing at all! This saddle was a HUGE let down and ruined a special time for me. I searched the internet for weeks looking at saddle reviews and thought I made a wise choice. I was in tears when I took it out of the box. I was surprised to learn that Weatherbeeta actually owns Collegiate.
Dislikes: DO NOT waste your money on this saddle. The leather is extremely low quality. It's like it's not even leather. I truly thought it was a cordura type saddle when I took the cover off of it. The fleece cover is very nice. However, it looks like it's worth more than the saddle it's covering. I've NEVER seen leather that looks like this before. Looking at the saddle, no one would be able to convince me that this is real leather. It's VERY low quality if it even is leather. The saddle arrived with scrapes on it and the left flap was all creased up the entire flap, looking like it's wrinkled or something too. The flap looks like someone folded the leather in half and creased it in 6 different places all up the entire flap. Also, where the saddle is put together in the pommel it is not done correctly. The stitching is weird and there is a gap on each side. Clearly valleyvet.com is selling saddles that are seconds, hence a price that is hundreds of dollars cheaper than anywhere else you see the saddle listed on line. I knew it was too good to be true. If seconds are going to be sold it should be stated in the listing. DO NOT BUY THIS SADDLE! You will be sorry that you did.
Quality: This is the lowest quality saddle I have ever seen for the price. I cannot believe that it sells in some places for as much as $1,200. As stated above, the leather is a HORRIBLE low quality leather. If the saddle I received is not considered a second this company has some serious issues with saddle construction.
Summary: Someone would have to insane to pay this much for this saddle. I would be hard pressed to pay $100 for it. It is going back tomorrow!
