Purchase: I got them from Mary's Tack and Feed in Del Mar. I paid the normal retail of $80, but they came with a $5 coupon. I got them to give my horse some support in the hind legs, as well as to offer some protection during turn out.
Likes: These are very well made boots, and I love the red color I got them in. The neoprene is thick but flexible, and they are sooo much better than the SMB II's. The suspensory strap is great, and they are very durable. The writing on the inside makes it very easy to see which is right and which is left too.
Dislikes: The slipping! You have to put these on very tightly, otherwise they slip down like crazy. They are kind of contoured to the leg, but not as well as the front SMB Elites. They are also very hard to keep clean, for sand gets stuck on the outside and dirt gets stuck on the inside. They also make the legs very hot, I would definitely not keep them on a horse for more than an hour, for fear of the tendons overheating.
Quality: They are very well made, and seem like they will last many years. The neoprene is thick and flexible, and seems very shock absorbing. The suspensory strap is wonderfully made, and actually stays in place compared to the old SMB's. The are great boots, and the velcro is very strong.
Summary: I would probably buy these again, but I wish they were contoured a little better, that way they wouldn't slip as much. You have to put these on verrry tightly! They absorb water like crazy, so I wouldn't suggest riding in them through water. Overall pretty good, better than the old SMB's!
