Purchase: I'd been saving up for a saddle for about 8 years. I have friends who bought saddles when they were eight, and twelve... when they were still growing. They always bought used saddles, and in the end, have replaced their saddles about four or five times. They got a good deal in the beginning, but in the long run, they might as well have bought a full priced Pessoa, or Stubben or a really nice brand.
All of these years, I saved for my own, and this year, I had gathered about 1,200 dollars worth in savings. I took a trip to my local tack store, and I tried saddle after saddle. I was looking at not spending the full twelve hundred, and only spending, tops, six or eight hundred. But the lady who was fitting me asked me to humor her, and brought out the Stubben Juventus.
I'm short, about 5'1'' and with all of the other saddles, the flap went down to my ankle. I have never really had a saddle that has fit when I take lessons, the flaps are always enormous. However, the minute I sat in the Stubben saddle, I knew that it was perfect! (And I ended up dropping the full 1,200)!
Likes: --Everything about this saddle! It's like it was designed for me!
I ride eventing, and the thigh blocks are perfect to ensure my legs don't slip during cross country. It is by far the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden in! It breaks in quickly, I've only ridden in it three times, and already I can feel it breaking in nicely. It fits every single horse at the barn I'm at, and it's honestly well worth the price I spent on it! It's glorious to a sitting trot, I look like I have duct taped my butt to the saddle! The seat is 17'' which fits my youth body, but the flaps are shorter, to adapt to my short legs. The Juventus is absolutely PERFECT for anyone under 5'5'' who has problems finding something with short enough flaps.
Dislikes: I can honestly say-- absolutely nothing!
Quality: The leather is beautiful, and the stitching is precise, and gorgeous (as all of Stubben's saddles are)! Stubben has always been my favorite brand. They sell a waterproofing saddle soap, which I'm about to run out in buy in a few hours! They really do think of every thing :)
Summary: I would recommend the Juventus to any rider out there who has the issue of a youth sized butt, and kid's sized legs, like me. The quality is top-notch, and this saddle is the best of the best, no doubt in my mind!
