Purchase: I ordered 3 of these bits from the Gaits of Gold website over the past few years. I ordered the first because my TWH had so many bit/chewing/tongue issues and a friend recommended this bit. The first was $59.00 plus $10.00 shipping. The next two were $69.00 plus shipping.
Likes: I really like this bit. It helped with the chewing problem with the one horse. The construction and quality at first appears to be what Brenda Imus promises on her website. I ended up ordering 2 more and also got favorable results from other horses who really didn't have any issues. I use the bit on my Walkers during training sessions as well as all day trail riding.
Dislikes: Two of the bits are bending and/or loosening by the center roller on one side of the mouthpiece. So much so that I'm afraid it will either cut or pinch my horse's mouth OR may break while riding. I would expect better performance from a less than 1-2 year old product.
Brenda Imus claims her bits are the best one can buy, but when directly asked to stand behind her product-she failed to help. Gaits of Gold website denies any faults or defects with her bit.
Quality: The bit quality seems to be good at first. The design idea was great and worked well for me, therefor, I was very disappointed when the bit failed so fast. They are now being "redesigned" by a cheaper source, I was told, to keep costs down. Interesting!
Summary: Brenda Imus claims to sell a quality product, but when it fails to deliver she will not stand behind her product. I used to recommend this bit to all our gaiting friends, but can no longer do so. If you buy this bit, SAVE your paperwork and check the bit every month. Be prepared for denial and a fight to get a better replacement product or your money back!! I got the denial, but nothing else.
