Purchase: I recently bought a Casa Dosa Paso Trainer Complete for $159 for use on a paso fino mare. It was used twice at the trainers and once at home. It included a headstall, bit holder and two sets of poly reins.
Likes: The unit was recommended by my mare's trainer and appeared to be solid and well built.
Dislikes: Unfortunately, I found the looks to be deceiving. The third time the headstall was on my mare it broke. I'm not sure exactly what happened. I had put on the headstall and tied the mare briefly while putting the bit on the bit holder. When I turned around, one side of the head stall had broken and the bucket and snap on the same side were twisted.
Quality: We have used English bridles with good leather for thirty years both at home and on the trail and have never had a problem, so I was surprised to see all this damage. I looked at the broken ends and found the leather to appear dry and paperish. The side buckets also did not seem sturdy.
Summary: I called Casa Dosa to ask whether they stood behind their product or whether the loss would be mine.
Casa Dosa was unwilling to replace what probably would have been a $15 piece of leather at their cost, so I have lost use of the headstall after about 10 minutes use at home.
Based on my experiences, I will never buy anything made from Casa Dosa again. Even if this particular piece of leather is the exception to the rule, their customer service ranks at the very bottom.
